What Gavel processes

• Search activity. Search text may be stored for aggregate product statistics. Common email and phone-number patterns are masked, whitespace is normalized, and stored text is limited in length.
• Result feedback. Helpful and not-helpful votes store a random device-generated identifier, the related query, result, and source. This helps reduce duplicate voting and gradually improve relevance.
• Community feedback. The feedback form stores the selected topic, rating, message, page context, and relevant search. An email is stored only when an adult voluntarily enters one for a reply.
• Operational data. Hosting and security providers may process standard request information needed to deliver and protect the service.

What stays private

Gavel Lens photo analysis runs in your browser. The photo and its pixels are not uploaded or stored by Gavel. Only anonymous aggregate measurements—such as capture quality and whether a code was detected—may be counted.

Gavel does not require a user account, sell personal information, or use search activity for paid advertising profiles.

Kids Mode

Kids Mode uses stricter filtering, simpler reference material, and hides outside links. It does not ask for contact information in the feedback form. Automated filtering is not perfect, so a trusted adult should supervise younger children.

Donations

Donations are completed in a bank’s official Zelle experience. Gavel’s website does not collect bank-account, card, or payment credentials. Always verify the displayed recipient address before sending money.

Choice and questions

You may use search and Lens without supplying contact information. To ask a privacy question or request review of feedback you submitted, return to Gavel, use the Send feedback control, and include enough context for Gavel to identify the submission.
